Epilepsy is a medical term used to cover all the over 150 physical Seizure Disorders no matter what the cause is not a single condition or disease. In 70% of all cases the cause is not known and in many the specific Seizure Disorder is not known. The word Epilepsy carries a stigma with it for centuries ago, so some people prefer to just say they have a Seizure Disorder, but they are the same thing. 

 

There are some non-physical Seizure Disorders that are NOT Epilepsy NES and PNES that do not fall under the diagnoses of Epilepsy because they do not affect the brainwaves, they just create symptoms that resemble epileptic seizures, but they are caused by psychologically.
